I am a fan of oats. Well, oatmeal for breakfast and my mom's no-bake cookies, anyway. So I found this overnight brownie batter oatmeal recipe and thought I'd try it. This is what it's supposed to look like:
Looks delicious, yes? All creamy, chocolatey goodness. Here is a before/after photo:
Now I admit, I never expect what I make to look like the photo I see on the recipe. I just know better, lol. But what the picture doesn't show you is how unpleasantly thick the mixture is after spending the night in the fridge. It's too bitter for my taste, so I added some peanut butter to sweeten and...well...chocolate and PB are just about the most heavenly combination on the planet. Don't judge me.
So yes, the PB undoubtedly affected the consistency. But sadly it didn't do much to improve the flavor either. *sadface* So I'm now trying to tweak the already-made product to make it edible, as well as determine if I want to bother tweaking the recipe. There are just some recipes I try and dislike enough I don't feel like investing the energy to try and improve them. We'll see if this becomes one of those.
In the meantime, I'm playing with some fall veggies and am very excited to get these recipes done and posted. :) If you are a brave soul who wants to try their hand at this brownie oatmeal disast.....er, recipe, just send an email or make a comment and I'll give you the link.
Happy cooking!
